Tūrangi Garden Club Donates $3000 to Te Matapuna Wetlands Restoration

Earlier this year, the Tūrangi Garden Club generously donated $3000 to Project Tongariro, supporting the restoration efforts at Te Matapuna Wetlands.

The donation was raised during the club’s annual Garden Ramble event in November, where 16 gardeners from the southern region of Lake Taupō showcased their gardens. This event is backed by long-time sponsor Bayleys Tūrangi and new sponsor Ryman Healthcare, allowing proceeds from ticket sales to be directed to a charitable cause. Each year, the garden club selects a local charity to support, with Project Tongariro chosen for this year.

The annual cost to manage the wetlands project is approximately $25,000, and this year, the Tūrangi Garden Club’s contribution will aid in covering these expenses. Project Tongariro extends a heartfelt thank you to the Tūrangi Garden Club for their generous support and dedication to local conservation efforts.
