Planting Day Volunteers needed!

Thank you everyone that helped at our last lay out, a fabulous turn out with a record 28 people! The help from local employers DOC, Waikato Regional Council and Epro is greatly appreciated!

Our upcoming planting sessions are scheduled for Saturday, 18th May, and Saturday, 8th June, with the next plant delivery set for Thursday, 16th May. The final delivery, along with layout arrangements, will take place on Friday, 7th June.

We anticipate having approximately 2000 plants for each planting session and we need your help! Whether you're available for a half-day or a full-day commitment, your help is appreciated. Morning tea will be provided onsite, featuring our renowned homemade baked goods! For those eager to lend a hand with digging, feel free to bring along a post hole digger if you have one. Additionally, if you have a flat deck ute that we can use, please let us know.

Our plan, as before, is to lay out the podocarps at approx 5 m spacings before any other plants (hopefully podocarps will come off the truck first). Mixing plants to make it as natural as possible please so taking a variety of plants off the vehicles is key, we don’t want all of one species in a group because they all came off the ute at the same time!

If you intend to stay for the afternoon's mahi, please let us know so we can ensure lunch is provided.

Bring a water bottle and clothing for any weather! I can loan gloves if you don’t bring your own and we have plenty of shovels.

If you think you can help us Please contact Shirley Potter. (Click here to email her)

Calling Project Tongariro Supporters!

Our Friends at Kids Greening Taupō and Greening Taupō need our support!

As they gear up for another exciting Greening Taupō Day, we're reaching out to our dedicated community for support, we're hoping you can lend a hand once again!

This year, we're looking for volunteers to assist with parking coordination and ensuring the health and safety of all attendees. Your participation in these crucial roles will help make the event run smoothly and safely for everyone involved.

Event Details:

Location: Along the back of the golf course on Tauhara Road (opposite side of the road to the BP station).

Set-Up Time: Between 8:00-9:00 AM (All vehicles must be off-site by 9:00 AM).

Official Opening: 9:30 AM.

Event Duration: Until 1:00 PM, followed by pack-up (aiming to be done by 1:30 PM).

Additional Notes: The site poses some challenges, particularly during set-up, with multiple tasks requiring attention simultaneously. We need volunteers who are willing to assist with guiding stallholders, directing traffic, ensuring proper registration, and offering support during activities.

Your involvement will be instrumental in ensuring the success of Greening Taupō Day. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or considering lending a hand for the first time, your contribution is deeply appreciated.

If you're available to volunteer or would like more information about specific roles, please contact Rachel Thompson: rachel@greeningtaupo.org.nz or phone 021 166 8332

Registrations close on Friday the 17th May 2024.
