Enjoy a guided tour around the unique Wairakei Golf & Sanctuary and the Gallagher Insurance Kiwi Burrow, with Save the Kiwi, Greening Taupō, Takahē Recovery, and the Department of Conservation.
This is a very special opportunity to learn about how local partners are working together as kaitiaki for some of our most precious flora and fauna.
The tour will include a trip around the Wairakei Golf + Sanctuary showcasing its unique flora & fauna, learning the differences between a ‘regular’ golf course and the uniqueness of the Wairakei Golf & Sanctuary.
You will also learn about the Sanctuary’s predator proof fence and trapping program, get the chance to admire and learn more about the resident takahē, and participate in a once-in-a-lifetime tour of the Gallagher Insurance Kiwi Burrow.

Please note: Dress code standards are compulsory and a full driver's license must also be sighted to those who wish to drive a golf cart. The Wairakei Golf & Sanctuary reserve the right to turn anyone away who does not abide by these rules.
Only those who have not had a chance to experience these trips before may attend.
The Trip Leader reserves the right to refuse anyone who is insufficiently equipped.
Adverse weather may result in cancellation/postponement. Admin and booking fee is non-refundable in the event of cancellation.
If you cancel your trip before 48 hours of the trip date, a refund will be provided (excluding the $6 booking fee). For cancellations within 48 hours of the trip, no refunds are applicable.
