Taupō's first repair Cafe
Taupō Repair Cafe - Saturday 6th April
Project Tongariro, in conjunction with Taupō District Council, Bike Taupō, Volunteer Great Lake Taupō, Taupō Climate Action Group and Taupō Timebank held Taupō first Repair Cafe on the 6th of April.
The event was a huge success, with more than 50 items being repaired on the day!
People who ventured out to the cafe got free repairs and expert help and friendly advice on hand from our amazing local volunteers.
The event was such a big success we are now looking to do it all over again. This free event cannot run with out the support of our local volunteers - can you lend a helping hand?
Volunteers will be asked to show up for approximately three to four hours at the repair cafe to help repair or do other administration tasks. If successful we'd like to run the repair cafe as an ongoing event hosted 3 or 4 times a year.
We are looking for people that may have repair skills with electrical sewing jewellery, general handy people, admin people, people that can help sign in, take photos or pass out food. If you'd like to be involved with the repair cafe and help reduce the waste going into our landfall, get in touch today.
We are also please to announce a second repair cafe will take place on Saturday the 10th of August 2024. Further details can be found here.
