Be transported by helicopter to the remote Boyd Airstrip nestled in the heart of the Kaimanawa Forest Park.
This 15 km hike weaves its way through the beautiful Oamaru Valley to the headwaters of the Mohaka River. Be prepared for an abundance of serenity, natural beauty and postcard-worthy photo opportunities.

Trip Length: Approx 9 Hours including a 5 to 6 Hour Hike
Minimum Age: 13 years
Maximum Participants: 19 (A minimum of 10 people is needed for this trip to proceed, otherwise booked people will be refunded)
Meeting Place: HeliSika, end of Taharua Rd, off SH5 @ 7.15am
This is a backcountry grade 5 walk with several river crossings
Postponement date 10th January if forecast for poor weather. Forecasts are checked by the aircraft carrier, and participants are to be advised of decisions made 2 days beforehand (i.e 7th Jan). Other criteria for postponement / canceling include Covid-19 alert level increase.
Please note: You will be asked to sign a health and safety waiver on the day, before the trip begins.
Participants are asked to bring the following:
Water & windproof & warm clothing
Packed lunch and water
Tramping boots
Sunglasses / sunscreen / sunhat
Gloves and warm hat
Snacks and drinks
Personal first aid kit
Personal medication
Camera (optional)
