Discover the volcanic history of Mt Ruapehu on this off track hike down the lahar path from the top of the Tukino Mountain Road
Look at paths from the ancient Rangipo mega lahars, and the more recent (1995, 2007 x 2) lahar activity down the Whangaehu and at the site of the Bund (man-made barrier).

Transport: Own 4WD or high clearance with carpooling for those who don’t have access to them.
Participants are asked to bring the following:
Waterproof and windproof clothing
Tramping boots
Sunglasses/sunscreen/hat
Gloves and warm hat
Lunch, snacks and drink
Personal first aid kit
Personal medication
Camera (optional)
Please note: the Trip leader reserves the right to refuse anyone who is insufficiently equipped.
Adverse weather may result in cancellation/postponement. Admin and booking fee is non-refundable in the event of cancellation.
If you cancel your trip before 48 hours of the trip date, a refund will be provided (excluding the $6 booking fee). For cancellations within 48 hours of the trip, no refunds are applicable.
