New Year's Day Celebration - Come Fly a Kite!

Ever flown your kite beneath the peaks of Mounts Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu?

Well here's your chance. Join us for a family fun day on the Chateau Tongariro's Golf Course. Bring some cash for a sausage sizzle to keep you fueled, a gold coin donation to make a paper kite or $10 for a larger, sturdier and colourful pre-assembled kite. Come and join the Project Tongariro team and show your support for the many conservation projects they do in our area. Meet at the Chateau Golf Course, Whakapapa Village, Mt Ruapehu.

Cost: Gold coin koha for paper kites or $10 for pre made plastic kites. No booking is needed.

Weather dependent. If the trip needs to be postponed or cancelled, trip leaders will let everyone know the night before or on the morning of.

PARTICIPANTS ARE ASKED TO BRING THE FOLLOWING:

  • Waterproof and warm clothing

  • Packed lunch and water

  • Sturdy tramping/walking shoes

  • Sunglasses/sunscreen/sunhat

  • Personal medication

  • Masks (Covid level dependent)

COVID-19 POLICY

Please find below important information regarding our policy under the Covid-19 Protection Framework. This policy is valid whether we are in red, orange, or green in the traffic light system.

All trips (except the Avian Aversion Training) will require attendees to wear a mask to the meeting point and show a valid vaccination passport. A DOC employee will cite vaccination passports at the meeting point on the day of your trip. These settings are to keep volunteers, staff, and attendees safe, as well as for the safety of the wider communities we operate in.

Avian Aversion Training attendees do not have to have a vaccination passport but must be wearing a mask.

All trip leaders are double vaccinated.
